About us

We are a small, loosely organized group who aim to help provide all of the people in our communities with their basic needs. Right now, we primarily focus on providing food.

The Black Rose Project may sound similar a food bank, but there are a few key differences.

Firstly, we believe that food should be available to everyone. While a food bank is meant to provide for those that have no other option for food, we want to give away free, nutritious food to everyone, no matter who.

Secondly, instead of giving away store-bought food, we instead produce the food ourselves. The reason for this is that we do not want the Project’s work to be dependent on a constant inflow of donations. Instead of simply taking people’s donations and moving money around, we are trying to build the infrastructure to continue to meet people’s needs well into the future, without relying on outside donations. For this reason, we do not take any donations of money or store-bought foods towards our food serves at this time.

So if that all sounds interesting to you, and like something you would want to take part in, we’d love to have you!
